Make a wish
Take your time
Give any name to what you find
Come to me
My loving unbeliever
I was never superstitious
But if I had the choice
I'd call the court magicians
To show you in the mirror
To speak in your own voice
Make a wish
Take your time
Give any name to what you find
Stay and see
What wakes before the dreamer
All worlds have their beginnings
Some stories have no end
Some stars will tear the velvet sky
To fall into the ocean
And still some songs may mend
And all we have cradled
And all we have crushed
And all we have loved into diamonds or dust
It is here in the void on these pages
The last grain of sand in Fantasia
Make a wish
Take your time
Give any name to what you find
Come to me
My loving unbeliever

The Cartographer
05:39
|
|||
There was a boy who loved a bird
who lived along the border
Of the bright world he had painted on his wall
Before his eyes, she came alive
her saw her fly
She sang aloud
so strong and proud,
farewell but not goodbye
He made the map, he marked a path
to show the journey true
Fingers tracing tenderly
the four winds as she flew
He alone who knows she fears to spread her wings and go
Across a sea so strange and wide
And so he draws a compass in a corner of the sky
To see her safely to the other side
And she will name an island for him, hidden from the highest tides.
She said my love for you is like a fountain
bursting from the heart
Of some dark forest where no foot will ever tread
He said my love for you lay down between
the lines of every page
Of every atlas you have never read
But when you rest between these latitudes,
then I will bring them all to you
To shade my understanding with your sight
Illuminate my vision with your light
And so the bird who loved the boy
went winging off in wonder
To discover every sacred secret shore
To ride the wind
so wild and then
return again
The roads they spiral far and wide,
but here they all begin
And in his hands she understands
the magic still unseen
And in her mind at last he finds
the legend to his dreams
She alone who sees he longs for other worlds than these
Beyond the boundaries he has lain
And so she flies until her eyes survey the truth of every peak
And every distant plain
And he will build a bower for her, hidden from the driving rain
He said my love for you is like a story
written in a language I have never seen
but always understood
She said my love for you is like the starlight
scattered on the water,
I would gather it and hold it if I could
But when the night is inky black,
my silvered wings will bear it back
across the far horizon to your door
To show you all you've ever dreamed
And more.

The Dream
06:30
|
|||
The fog is blanketing the water,
the moon is smiling at the stars
and yet another day is over,
but the night ahead is ours.
The fires are burning in the distance,
and laughter mingles in the air
the drums and pipes are sweetly sounding,
the world a moment knows no care.
And though the morning comes again
the dreams we’re dreaming need not end
when we arise and wake
for something lingers when we’ve gone
and there it waits ‘til we return
to dream another day.
Now as I gaze across the fire,
the faces ‘round me seem to change
one world a thousand years behind me,
and even I am not the same.
The voices echo something magic,
a peaceful feeling fills my soul
and every warm smile that I meet
drives away the evening’s cold.
And though the morning comes again
this dream I’m dreaming need not end
when I arise and wake
For something lingers when I’ve gone
and there it waits ‘til I return
to dream another day.
And when at last the night is sleeping,
and the embers burning low,
I watch the bright moon slowly sinking,
and feel an ache that I must go.
But then the breeze picks up and carries,
to follow me, a quiet song
A soft caress of ancient music--
my heart cannot be heavy long.
For though the morning comes again
this dream we're dreaming need not end
when we arise and wake
for something lingers when we’ve gone
and there it waits ‘til we return
to dream another day
for something lingers when we’ve gone
and there it waits ‘til we return
to dream another day.

Good Night Neverland
03:30
|
|||
Starlight, star bright
First or second on the right?
I never thought my memory
Would fail to hold the way
But little things betray themselves
In slipping rhymes, in dying bells
And Neverland
Grows smaller, every day.
I wish I may, I wish I might
But someone hid the stars tonight
I never thought these dazzled eyes
Would let them go astray
But little things begin to blur
The colors innocence confers
On Neverland
Grow fainter, every day.
In all my dreams, I did not leave
But now I climb the wind, to grieve
Among the willows, one last time,
And see my world away.
The little lights are shining still
They kiss the canopies and hills
Of Neverland,
Unknowing and at play.
When tears and love have overflowed
They keep some portion of a soul
I’ll catch it in a crystal flask
And leave it at your door
I wish, I wish, with all my might
That dawn would never follow night
But Neverland
Can’t hold us anymore.
When, as it will, my heart grows old
When yesterday is long ago
When long ago’s a fairy tale
And all my flying through
I’ll leave the window open wide
Watch for the star, and turn my eyes
To Neverland
And I will think of you.

Helen
02:36
|

Miss Helen was a beauty in her day
The face that launched a single ship to Shangri-La
The sunset stole it down beneath the bay
But what a sunset
What a sunset
She will say.
Now Helen is a keeper of the time
In ticket stubs and tokens that reflect the past
They shine to show the girl she is inside
Who dances with the music
For as long as it will last.
A love so deep and wide it took a lifetime to fulfill
Is filling up the spaces of her heart's home, even still
The moments and the memories surround her, and somehow
She feels it just as if it all were happening right now
And Helen dreams her own dreams in the night
The pictures move with stories that she will not tell
She sleeps and holds them close, but not too tight
And they will keep her
They will keep her
Very well.
