Jupiter stands like a sentinel under a searchlight
Venus is reaching her arms in the gulf of the night
to baptize the shadow the fallow moon keeps in her cradle
wrapped in her mantle of light
While down on the earth there is silence in spaces between us
distance outreaching the lonely expanse of the stars
thinking if only our fingertips touched in the darkness
maybe the world could be ours
But if you looked
From not so very far away
Suddenly every star we can name
Would fit in the pin-light
That sits in the frame of your eye
And we are as small as a universe
Born in a burst of "I've known you before"
Aren't you the heat I have carried
So long in my core?
And we are the dust from the first dawn
Made of the same flames we wish upon
Traveling longer than eons
All to be standing here
Scattering starlight the moment we meet in the darkness
Burning out loud with the blossoming heat of the sun
Waking a world that awaited the spark of creation
Waited love's will to be done
Here there is nothing but trembling starlight between us,
Reaching unseen from the heart of my heart into yours
And all we have been will be wakened again, and remembered
Wondrous and tender
Brighter and stronger than before.
I could listen to Lauren sing forever. Her writing is vivid and sensitive, sweetly and painfully human--never apologizing for sharp corners and rough edges. The beauty of her spirit shines through. Summer Russell

This is a wonderful recording. For a live recording the quality is amazing. The vocal balance with voice and piano is perfect. I very much enjoyed the stories between the songs, they enriched the meaning of the songs. Anyone who is interested in mythology and a wonderful story teller who does so with music, this is for you Kathleen SLOAN
